Hymn to Babylon — A Six-Song Suite

This suite adapts a hymn restored from Sippar Library cuneiform fragments, published in Fadhil & Jiménez, "Literary Texts from the Sippar Library V: A Hymn in Praise of Babylon and the Babylonians," Iraq, vol. 86 (2025), pp. 21–78, Cambridge University Press for the British Institute for the Study of Iraq (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). Lyrics were constructed in Modern Standard Arabic via cognate correspondence with the Akkadian original; passages lost to tablet damage are rendered as wordless vocalise rather than invented text. For each song, two takes were produced and the stronger take was selected based on acoustic measurement and independent listening evaluation; the take number for each song below reflects that selection.
